GUELPH, Ont. — In celebration of Nutrition Month, Ontario Pork is encouraging consumers to give into their cravings for the other white meat.
“Consumers may be surprised to learn that certain cuts of pork are just as lean and healthy as a chicken breast of fish,” said Kimberly Green, Ontario Pork’s registered dietician, speaking of the meat that includes essential nutrients, like vitamin B-6, protein, zinc and potassium.
Pork produced in Ontario is subject to strict safety standards; the animals are fed grain products made up of ingredients approved under the Canadian Feeds Act and Regulations.
The Ontario Pork organization represents 2,300 farmers, and the pork industry employs about 27,000 workers.
