HALIFAX – George Christakos’s Halifax restaurant, Brooklyn Warehouse, was recently awarded the Canadian Youth Business Foundation’s (CYBF) 2009 Chairman’s Business Award for Atlantic Canada.

Dubbed one of Halifax’s best new restaurants soon after its 2007 opening, the 40-seat casual fine-dining favourite features award-winning cuisine prepared with fresh local ingredients.

Christakos opened the Warehouse at just 23, and the young entrepreneur is already talking about adding another 30 seats within the next year. He credits CYBF for helping him build his dream. “CYBF and its community partner, CEED Halifax, are a guiding force to young entrepreneurs for success,” says Christakos. “Being an entrepreneur has allowed me to grow as an individual more than any other direction I may have taken…As I continue to develop my business, I can see that the business is developing me.”

The CYBF is a national charity that offers financing and mentoring services to entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 34. For a complete list of the Chairman Business Award winners, click here.
