TORONTO — Hank’s, Jamie Kennedy’s old soup, salad and sandwich café, is expanding with a bigger space and a new southern-inspired menu featuring Ontario ingredients.

“I’ve wanted to bring a southern-kissed menu to Toronto for a long time. But I wanted to do it using only homegrown southern Ontario ingredients,” explains executive chef Scott Vivian, who is the co-owner of Hank’s as well as Wine Bar, the café’s neighbour and Kennedy’s former award-winning restaurant. “The key here is that Hank’s will now serve homemade Southern-style à la carte dinners that showcase Ontario’s best meats and produce but at price points that are truly accessible to all Torontonians.”

Look for the menu to include some of Vivian’s favourites from back home in the southern U.S., including traditional dishes like ribs, fried chicken, corn bread, biscuits, grits, hushpuppies, dirty rice and mac’n’cheese. Ontario wines, beers and ”folksy” music will also help set the mood for southern-inspired dining.

Hank’s will continue to operate daily as a café, while Hank’s at night is expected to open Feb. 4.
