ERFURT, Germany — Boundless creative ideas are on display at the trade fair IKA/Inoga 2012, which is running in Erfurt, Germany, in concert with the World Culinary Olympics.

One innovation that’s attracting attention is a customer feedback application created by a company named Honestly, who specialize in making customer comments easy to obtain and simple to manage.

“We’sre all about making feedback easier,” says Mateo Freudenthal, co-founder. “All restaurants need customer feedback. Some methods are too complicated for the end-consumer, so we took a mobile approach and made it easy.”

Replacing traditional paper-based comment cards, Honestly’s mobile application syncs with smartphones that can read QR codes or sense an NFC chip. A basic version is free, but the company offers an upgraded version, billed monthly for 59 Euros. “As an end user, you just put your phone close to an NFC chip, which can be integrated into a table display or menu, and automatically an individual feedback form will pop up and you can give your feedback directly to the management in under 30 seconds.” Feedback is delivered to the owner or manager’s email account, but the data can be analyzed and the consumer can be sent an instant response.

Response to the mobile app has been positive. To date, says Freudenthal, 100 businesses have partnered with Honestly, including companies in China and Bolivia.
