Not surprisingly, the restaurant industry has actively opposed the hike. But given that it’s now a reality, the Nova Scotia government has prepared a retailer’s toolkit to assist with the transition from 13 per cent to 15 per cent tax.
This comes after the Canadian Restaurant Foodservices Association asked government officials to consider “reducing spending and raise revenue through privatization of the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation” in a bid to cut the deficit without affecting foodservice sales.
