TORONTO — Sara Herrche and Kathryn Gee emerged as the winners of the third-annual Frankie Tomatto’s Restaurant Innovation Competition, held at the Restaurants Canada Show on Sunday.

The team from Humber College wowed the judges with their business concept for Field to Fork Consulting; earning the top prize of $3,000. This is the second year in a row that a team from Humber College has won the competition.

The Restaurant Innovation Competition challenged post-secondary students enrolled in hospitality programs to develop new foodservice ideas related to products, technology, sales, service, concepts or equipment.

During the final leg of the competition, the final three teams presented their ideas to panel of judges — including Foodservice and Hospitality editor and publisher Rosanna Caira — who helped select the winning team based on the creativity/originality, potential impact, scope, feasibility/practicality and overall impression of their pitched ideas.
