TORONTO — Following the April launch of its dedicated plant-based menu, the Toronto-based Italian micro-chain, Il Fornello has introduced a dedicated website and social-media channels, Italian For Vegan.
“When we introduced our dedicated vegan menu, it blew up our social feeds,” says Stacey Patterson, vice-president of Il Fornello Restaurants. “It became so popular that all the social-media conversations were misleading people to think that we had gone full plant-based.”
As a brand that’s been around for 30-plus years, the introduction of its plant-based menu has attracted a much younger demographic of diners that are being re-introduced to the Il Fornello brand.
“We recognize the rapid rise of diners looking to make a conscious effort to reduce their meat and dairy consumption,” says Patterson. “We wanted to be able to offer more options, alongside our signature pastas and pizzas to become the go-to place where carnivores can still enjoy a classic Spaghetti Bolognese, while their vegan friends could enjoy a plant-based version of the same.”
