Industry Mourns Passing of Bill Pothitos

MONTREAL — Basil (Bill) Pothitos, a long-time figure in the Quebec restaurant scene, passed away recently at the age of 80 after years of significant health issues.

Pothitos’ early career involved restaurants in the Drummondville, Que. area. In the 1980s, he purchased the Burger King rights for Quebec and built the first 20 restaurants in the province. He went on to bring the Chili’s restaurant brand to Quebec and later purchased the Le Bifthèque chain.

Pothitos is survived by his wife and daughter. In accordance with his wishes, he was cremated and a private memorial was held in his honour.
