MONTREAL — René-Luc Blaquière and Peter McAuslan have been appointed to the Order of Canada.

Blaquière, executive advisor, Institute de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Quebec (ITHQ) Foundation, is appointed to the order in recognition of his contributions to the promotion of Quebec cuisine and the development of the hotel industry in Canada and abroad. Blaquière participated in the development of the ITHQ and its foundation. In December 2016, he celebrated 50 years of active involvement with the ITHQ.

McAuslan, founder of Montreal-based McAuslan Brewing receives this honour for his “pioneering contributions” to Canada’s craft-brewing industry, as well as his support for arts, heritage and culture initiatives in Montreal. He founded the brewery in 1989 and it has since become one of Quebec’s foremost micro-breweries.

Blaquière and McAuslan were among 99 new appointees that were announced by Gov. Gen. David Johnston on June 30.
