Johnnie Walker Releases Black Label Origin Series

EDINBURGH, Scotland — Johnnie Walker has launched a new collection of 12-year-old single-malt whiskies, called The Johnnie Walker Black Label Origin Series.

The collection aims to represent each of the flavour profiles from the four whisky-producing regions of Scotland — the fruity flavours of Speyside, the rich characteristics of the Highlands, the sweet notes of the Lowland region and the smoky finish of Islay.

“I’ve always been fascinated by the distinct flavour profiles that distilleries from each of the four corners of Scotland offer and what they individually add to our whiskies,” says George Harper, Johnnie Walker’s whisky specialist. “The Johnnie Walker Black Label Origin Series gives us the opportunity to take people on a guided tour of the whisky-producing regions, with each edition delving deeper into the four signature notes of Johnnie Walker Black Label — sweet vanilla, orchard fruit, rich fruit and smoke.”

The whiskies in the collection include:

  • Johnnie Walker Black Label Speyside Origin — a light, fruity whisky with hints of green apple and orchard fruit, crafted primarily from the distilleries of Cardhu and Glendullan
  • Johnnie Walker Black Label Highlands Origin — a rich, dark whisky with notes of red berry and stone fruits, crafted primarily from distilleries in Clynelish and Taeninich
  • Johnnie Walker Black Label Islay Origin — a slightly spicy whisky with a warm, maritime smokiness, made from single malts primarily from Lagavulin and Caol Ila
  • Johnnie Walker Black Label Lowlands Origin — a sweet, creamy, vanilla whisky with a hint of toffee, crafted using grain whiskies from Glenkinchie and Cameronbridge

Each limited-edition label in the collection features a map of Scotland highlighting the source region, along with various facts and trivia about the area.

“At Johnnie Walker, we have access to an unparalleled range of fantastic single malts and this collection will be of particular interest to anybody who wants a greater understanding of how our small team of expert whisky-makers craft and balance those distinct flavour profiles to make Johnnie Walker Black Label,” says John Williams, global brand director of Johnnie Walker.
