TORONTO — Filipino fast-food chain Jollibee Food Corporation (JFC) has announced plans to open 100 locations in Canada within the next five years.

The company opened its first Canadian location in Winnipeg in 2016 and has since opened an additional Winnipeg location, as well as one in Scarborough, Ont.

As part of its Canadian expansion, JFC has indicated it hopes to open additional locations in Ontario and is currently exploring locations in Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver.

The Jollibee brand has been well received in Canada, attracting long lines at its new restaurant launches. At the opening of the brand’s Scarborough location, in April, customers lined up outside the restaurant as early as 2 p.m. the day before the launch and the store served 7,000 customers on opening day.

The company cited the warm welcome it received in Scarborough as motivation behind its recently announced philanthropic partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of West Scarborough. Through the ongoing partnership, the company will host regular “Jollibee Days,” which will provide food and activities to the children.
