Jollibee Foods Sets Sights on Canada

MANILA — Philippines-based fast food company Jollibee Foods plans to enter Canada in 2016, reports Nikkei Asian Review.

The company — which recently acquired 40 per cent of the U.S.-based Smashburger chain — announced plans for aggressive international expansion. According to CEO Ernesto Tanmantiong, Jollibee will enter new markets in 2016, including Canada, Italy, Malaysia, Oman and the U.K.

The group also plans to open more stores in its native Philippines as well as Singapore, Vietnam and the U.S. next year, having set aside US$158.73 million for new store investments and existing store renovations.
