SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Pinkberry, the California-based frozen-yogurt concept has a new owner. Kahala Brands has inked a deal to acquire the chain and operate it from its head office in Scottsdale, Ariz.

“With over 260 stores in 20 countries, Pinkberry has a history of exceptional growth in just 10 years because of the product quality, flavour profile and personality of the concept,” said Michael Serruya, chairman and CEO of Kahala Brands. “We very much look forward to bringing the support services and best practices we have from within Kahala Brands and aligning with the Pinkberry franchisees to help maximize the brand’s potential for continued evolution and success.”

The Serruya family has a history of developing and growing quick-service brands ever since brothers Michael, Aaron and Simon launched Yogen Früz in 1998. In 2013, the family acquired a controlling interest in Kahala Brands, whose portfolio includes brands such as TacoTime, Blimpie, Coldstone Creamery and Planet Smoothie.
