VAUGHAN, Ont. — The Vaughan, Ont.-based team at KFC Canada is preparing to launch KFC Select — a new fast-casual concept — in Toronto.

“It’s all of the great things about KFC that Canadians already love with a fresh, contemporary twist,” David Vivenes, chief marketing officer of KFC Canada, is quoted as saying by the Toronto Sun. “We’re very excited about this new concept.”

With mains starting at $5.99, the new menu will feature many unexpected items, such as a soft flour tortilla burrito filled with grilled chicken, cilantro and rice; a crispy chicken fillet sandwich topped with cilantro mayo, cheddar and lettuce and the Kream Ball dessert made with vanilla ice cream, chocolate drizzle and bits of chocolate. The new generation menu will be complemented by tried-and-true favourites such as fried chicken burgers, chicken fingers and dip.

The first unit of the new concept is set to open in Toronto in mid-December at 730 Yonge St., south of Bloor.
