KFC Serves Up Beer in Toronto

TORONTO — Louisville, Ky-based KFC is set to offer domestic and international beer this fall at two of its Fresh locations in Toronto.

“We think beer is a nice complement to our food,” David Vivenes, CMO, KFC Canada, told the Financial Post, while discussing KFC Fresh. “People want to spend more time in restaurants with this type of atmosphere. Having that complement the food makes sense.”

KFC Fresh debuted as a test concept in Toronto last fall, and a second location will open Thursday. The Fresh menu features rice bowls, burritos salads and burgers — competing with restaurant chains like Chipotle Mexican Grill and Panera Bread.

The new concept will have an opening launch Thursday, with a temporary liquor licence for the day. The fast-casual concept is expected to be fully licensed by the fall.
