VAUGHAN, Ont. — KFC Canada has announced its newest menu item, KFC Plant-Based Fried Chicken.

The announcement comes on the heels of KFC Canada’s partnership with Lightlife and will be part of a limited one-day, one-location test taking place November 27 at the brand’s location at 6055 Creditview Rd. in Mississauga, Ont.

The company will use the test to determine KFC Canada’s plans to roll out the Plant-Based Fried Chicken options nationally in 2020.

“We believe the Colonel’s famous finger-licking-good taste should have no boundaries,” says Sam Redman, CMO, KFC Canada. “So we’ve created several craveable plant-based options for Canadians looking for a meat-free meal.”

In addition to the plant-based fried-chicken sandwich (available regular or spicy, $6.99) KFC will also offer a plant-based popcorn-chicken bucket ($3.99).

“This is a landmark moment for Lightlife. We’re proud to join forces with KFC to bring Canadians a plant-based chicken with incredible taste,” says Dan Curtin, president and CEO of Greenleaf Foods, SPC, owner of Lightlife.
