Landmark Captain John’s Restaurant Closed

TORONTO — The city reportedly ordered Toronto’s Captain John’s restaurant be closed this past Friday.

John Letnik, the restaurant’s owner admitted he was overdue on property and utility taxes. The City of Toronto reportedly shut off water to the ship and a health department inspector ordered the restaurant closed.

According to CBC News, a meeting was set for today with the city, the port authority and the harbour commission to discuss the next steps as Letnik had a few offers on the boat.

Captain John’s Seafood restaurant has been in operation on the city’s waterfront since 1975; Letnik has lived on the ship for 30 years.
