Laurier Drops Gordon Ramsay

MONTREAL — The name Laurier Gordon Ramsay is no more, with news that ties have been severed between the iconic Montreal restaurant and the celebrity chef that collaborated with the owners to reinvigorate the barbecue eatery.

According to the Toronto Star, the restaurant is being rebranded Laurier 1936 as a tribute to the year it was founded.

This news comes months after the restaurant was rebranded and renovated. “We wish Gordon all the best, but he’s a big star and too busy to come to the restaurant,” owner Danny Lavy told The Gazette, adding that the Ramsay team didn’t understand the “vision” of the Laurier team.

“We are surprised and saddened by Mr. Lavy’s comments,” reads a statement sent by Ramsay spokesperson, Jo Livingston, as quoted by the Toronto Star. “Gordon and his team have provided significant support to all levels of the business above and beyond what was required by the agreement, and we are rightfully proud to have contributed to its success to date.”

The Laurier name has already been removed from Ramsay’s website.
