MONTREAL — Les Lauriers has released the names of the 90 finalists contending for the first edition of the organization’s annual awards.
Late last year, 100 stakeholders from the Quebec gastronomy industry joined forces to mark the creation of Les Lauriers — the first official gala recognizing the many talents of Quebec’s gastronomy.
“The idea is to say bravo and thank you to the industry by organizing an evening worthy of the greatest cultural galas,” says Christine Plante, the event’s general manager and founder.
Finalists in 15 categories were selected by the “Lauriers Brigade,” which brings together nearly 1,000 professionals from all trades of Quebec’s gastronomy. The vote of the jury — composed of six people whose names will be kept secret until the awards gala — will be added to that of the brigade. The jury members have agreed to withdraw from the competition this year. The entire voting process is led by the external research firm MBA Research, which guarantees the results’ accuracy.
Following the initial survey, a selection of 10 culinary personalities have been selected as contenders for the awards’ people’s choice category. The general public can vote, from March 17 to 31, for the personality that has marked the gastronomic scene in Quebec this year. This vote will take place exclusively online here.
Quebec’s industry professionals are encouraged to vote for the winners of the first edition of Les Lauriers, who will be honoured at a gala event hosted by Christian Bégin at Salon 1861, in Montreal, on April 16.
