WINNIPEG — Eight of Winnipeg’s top chefs are getting ready to serve their specialties tonight at the city’s annual 100-Mile Dinner at the Centro Caboto Centre, where they will raise funds for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg.

“For me, I’sve been doing it my whole life,” Ben Kramer of Diversity Food Services, who will prepare the dinner along with seven other chefs, told the CBC.

“Obviously I want to keep our money in the local economy. It’s really important to me to know where my food is coming from. Working with farmers, I actually get a personal connection and a story with the food we’sre cooking.”

Head chef Luc Jean of Red River College will lead the culinary brigade, which includes Adam Donnelly of Segovia Tapas Bar and Restaurant, Tristan Foucault of Peasant Cookery, Norman Pastorin of The Grove Pub and Restaurant, Michael Schafer of Sydney’s at the Forks, Alexander Svenne of Bistro 7 1/4, and Mandel Hitzer of Deer + Almond.

The dinner will feature fresh, seasonal and locally-grown food found within 100 miles of Winnipeg.
