TORONTO — After almost 30 years in business, The Longest Yard Restaurant and Bar in Toronto will close its Mt. Pleasant location on May 1.
“Closing the restaurant is a lot harder than opening it [was] in 1987. The Yard has been an important part of my life. I’m overwhelmed that customers are as emotional as I am. Wrapping things up is heart wrenching,” says owner Debra DeMonte.
John Oakes, owner and operator of The Harbord House in Toronto will open a new restaurant, The Belize Public House, in the space. The Longest Yard’s second location at 3313 Bloor St. W. will remain open.
