SWEDEN — Mackmyra Svensk Whisky continues its international push in North America, partnering with the Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ), which now stocks the first-edition Swedish malt whisky at select Signature outlets in Montreal and Quebec City.Jonathan Luks, Mackmyra’s country manager, Canada, is excited about the new sales opportunity. “[We’ve been met with great interest] during our visits to Canada, so it’s very inspiring that a large and professional buyer as the SAQ has chosen our whisky for the Signature outlets”. He says Mackmyra’s expansion in to Canada is a priority, “We hope we can offer Mackmyra whisky to more provinces during this year.”
Mackmyra whisky is manufactured at the Mackmyra distillery in Gävle, Sweden. The first-edition stock is stored in bourbon casks, providing a powerful maturation process. The distillery also uses new oak casks, which gives the whisky a spicy flavour. Mackmyra whisky is described on the nose as fruity with hints of lightly toasted bread and buttery caramel. The taste is fruity and subtle, with citrus, caramel and honey, rounded off with a gentle touch of oak, while the aftertaste has traces of dark chocolate.
