Kostuch Media Ltd. is requesting that individuals submit photos to be included in our #KMLMadeInCanada photo contest.
By submitting your image via social media or email each contestant agrees to these Official Rules. If you do not agree to the Terms and Conditions, please do not submit an image.
The Kostuch Media Ltd. photo-contest begins January 1st 2017 a 12:00am (ET) and ends October 10th 2017 at 11:59pm (ET). Information on contest entry and prizes for part of these official rules.
The Kostuch Media Ltd. #KMLMadeinCanada photo contest is only open to legal Canadian residents (Excluding Quebec) who are at least nineteen (19) years old. Advisory Board Members, Employees, Interns, and Sponsors, as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, children) of these employees are not eligible to enter. The contestants must be following @foodservicemag and @hoteliermagazine on Instagram and their Instagram page must be set to public.

How to Enter
To coincide with Canada’s 150th birthday, KML readers are invited to take pictures of various iconic Canadian people (chefs and/or hoteliers) products, ingredients, and menu dishes as well as hotels and resorts that reflect a typically Canadian vibe/theme and submit their photos to Foodservice and Hospitality or Hotelier magazine via Instagram or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Iconic themes include:
- Food – appetizers, protein, vegetables, fruits, desserts
- Drinks – Cocktails, wines, beers
- Restaurants – building, sign, dishes
- People – Chefs/Hoteliers/Restaurateurs
- Hotels/Resorts – building, lobby, bar, suite, restaurant
All submissions must include be posted by the photographers/contestants’ personal Instagram handle. An image cannot be submitted more than once; however, a contestant may submit multiple images throughout the contest term. A contestant can submit a maximum of 3 images per month and a maximum of 30 images throughout the contest term. If a contestant submits more than the maximum their subsequent images will not be considered.
To be eligible for any category, as of February 1st 2017, a photograph must be shot and posted by the contestant no earlier than December 1st 2016 and no earlier than two months prior to submission date starting March 1st 2017.
All images submitted via email must be 1080px by 1080px in either JPG, TIF or PNG format.
Contestants must be following @foodservicemag or @hoteliermagazine before submitting any image via Instagram to the contest and must tag us using #KMLMadeinCanada.
Images that have won in other photo contest(s), either in print or online are not eligible for submission. Published images are not eligible. All images must be owned by the individual contestant.
Images submitted through Instagram who have been chosen as a monthly finalist might be asked to submit their photo via email email@example.com. Kostuch Media Ltd. cannot be responsible for lost, damaged, late or misdirected entries, or for faulty uploading connections, garbled transmissions, unauthorized intervention, or technical malfunctions.
Contestants retain their rights to their photograph; however, by entering this contest, you grant Kostuch Media Ltd. its magazines, and contest sponsors a royalty-free, Canada-wide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to publicly display, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works of any and all entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or later developed, for any Kostuch Media Ltd. purpose, including, but not limited to, advertising and promotion of its magazines and websites. Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit. Kostuch Media Ltd. and its sponsors will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.
Each month a judging panel comprised of Foodservice and Hospitality and Hotelier photographers, contest sponsors, editorial members, and graphic designers will choose between 10 to 15 pictures. Entries will be judged on creativity, strong composition, adherence to the Canadian theme, and overall impact. Decisions made by judges are final. By the end of the photo contest (October 13th 2017) the magazines will have 150 images from which to choose 10 “Grand Winners.”
The 12 Grand Winners (6 for Foodservice and Hospitality magazine and 6 for Hotelier magazine) will be announced at the 2017 Pinnacle Awards in December 2017.
