MONTREAL — On July 1, Madisons NY Grill & Bar will become the first Quebec restaurant chain to serve 100 per cent Certified Humane Raised and Handled beef, raised without the use of antibiotics, steroids or added hormones.
Through an exclusive distribution agreement with Les Viandes Intercités — Canada’s sole distributor of Creekstone Farms meat — Madisons will supply its Quebec and Ontario restaurants with only premium Black Angus beef, ranging from ground beef to filet mignon, aged a minimum of 35 days.
For the past 18 months, Madisons has been improving its menu to satisfy evolving consumer needs.
“More consumers are making health-conscious choices,” says Gilles Pépin, Madisons NY Grill & Bar senior VP. “In October 2014, we began our shift by introducing pork ribs free of added hormones and steroids. In July 2015, all our burgers’ ground beef patties were sourced from beef without added hormones and antibiotics. And starting July 1, 100 per cent of our beef cuts will come from beef raised free of added hormones, steroids and antibiotics. Our supplier, Creekstone Farms, has been accredited Humane Certified Raised and Handled by Humane Farm Animal Care for its humane practices in meat production.”
Madisons plans to eliminate antibiotics in all meat and poultry in its menu by December 31, 2017.
