TORONTO — Maple Leaf Square’s Real Sports Bar & Grill and E11even restaurant will serve as the new backdrop for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) opening party, which has been hosted at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex at Exhibition Place since 2001.
“We’sre excited to play opening night host to one of the most highly anticipated entertainment events in the world,” said Robert Hunter, executive vice-president, Venues & Entertainment, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE). “Maple Leaf Square was developed to be a destination that supports promoting Toronto as a world-class city.”
Party organizers were wooed by the size of the venue. “Maple Leaf Square allows us to take a large space that is composed of multiple facilities and create a different vibe in each location on the site,” said Barbara Hershenhorn, president of Party Barbara Co. and opening party organizer as quoted by the Toronto Star.
In other festival news, it’s been announced that Toronto Food Trucks will line the red carpet this year. The trucks will rotate from Sept. 7 to 16 at 7 pm to 12 am outside the cinema at 506 Bloor Street West. According to the Star, the following trucks have been confirmed: Blue Donkey Streatery, Buster’s Sea Cove, Caplansky’s Deli Truck, Curbside Bliss Cupcakes, The Food Dudes, Gourmet B1tches, Hogtown Smoke, Rome’n Chariot and Gorilla Cheese.
TIFF runs from Sept. 6 to 16.
