OAK BROOK, Ill. — Jan Fields is stepping down as president of McDonald’s USA. She will be succeeded by Jeff Stratton, global chief restaurant officer, who will assume the role Dec. 1.

“We appreciate and salute Jan for more than three decades of inspired leadership and impactful service under the arches,” said Don Thompson, McDonald’s president and CEO. “All of us who know Jan will miss her genuine nature and quick-witted humour. We wish Jan the very best.”

In her tenure, Fields was responsible for expanding McCafé beverage offerings across 14,000 U.S. McDonald’s restaurants, updating restaurants and recruiting 60,000 new employees on National Hiring Day. Last year, she took charge of voluntarily posting nutrition information on menu boards and revamping the Happy Meal to include apple slices and smaller kid-size french fries.

Stratton currently oversees innovation, concept and design, operations, training, performance and security at 34,000 McDonald’s restaurants worldwide. In his new position, he will report to Tim Fenton, COO.
