McDonald’s Profit Rises

OAK BROOK, Ill — McDonald’s Corp. has reported higher than expected revenue, aided by higher sales in U.S. and Europe, in its recent quarterly report.

Quarterly sales at the company’s restaurants are up 7.3 per cent with net income rising to $1.27 billion, up from $1.21 billion a year earlier.

The company’s performance was boosted by new menu items, restaurant makeovers and longer operating hours. McDonald’s continues to outpace rivals such as Wendy’s Co. and Burger King Corp.
