OAK BROOK, Ill. — McDonald’s U.S.A. is introducing a new way to nutritionally profile its food, with the launch of its “Favorites Under 400 Calories,” menu, which is linked to a new Olympic promotion.
“McDonald’s is bringing greater awareness to calories starting with some of customers’ favourite menu items for under 400 calories,” said Cindy Goody, McDonald’s U.S.A. senior director of Nutrition.
“With ‘Favorites Under 400 Calories,’ we hope to help customers understand how their choices fit within their daily recommended calorie needs, particularly with portion sizing and eating in moderation.”
The new menu offers customers the chance to win prizes through the “Win When U.S.A. Wins Gold,” promotion. Select items from the new menu will be served with a game piece that customers can peel to win prizes, such as free food from the new menu. The game pieces also include a code that can be entered at usawinsgold.com for a chance to win a prize whenever the U.S. wins gold at a specified event. Prizes include $25,000, trips to London and TVs.
Aside from perusing the new menu, McDonald’s customers can also find the restaurant’s nutritional information at mcdonalds.com, on McDonald’s mobile app and by reading about it in stores.
