TORONTO — Canadian celebrity chef and restaurateur Mark McEwan is having a busy fall with the opening of his new restaurant and the release of his first cookbook, Great Food at Home.

McEwan, owner of celebrated Toronto restaurants North 44, Bymark, and One and star of The Food Network’s The Heat, has released a 288-page, primer that provides the average cook with upscale recipes — some even torn from the menus of his top restaurants. And, all the seasons are covered, too, with recipes, like seared perch fillets, charred tomato risotto and venison stew with mashed potatoes.

“I think many of [the recipes] are really easy to execute on the home front,” McEwan told the Toronto Star. “All are very doable for the cook that has a little bit of talent at home.”

McEwan’s new Italian eatery, Fabbrica, is expected to open tomorrow.
