OTTAWA — The folks at Mike’s Hard Pink Lemonade recently presented a big pink cheque for $160,000 to the Canadian Breast Cancer Network (CBCN) at the Rideau and King Edward LCBO store in Ottawa.
The gift comes after a 12-month partnership to raise green for the National Young Women Living with Breast Cancer conference — which is expected to take place in October, funding permitting — as well as other related initiatives.
“As a Canadian company, Mike wanted to give back to the community in a way which makes a real difference to Canadians,” said Kevin Lynch, vice-president of Mike’s Central and Eastern regions. “True to his style, Mike did not just want to write a cheque to a large anonymous organization. He wanted to work with the CBCN because like us, they are a smaller, extremely hardworking organization and they contribute directly in a meaningful way to Canadians.”Mike’s Hard Pink Lemonade is a variety of the Canadian original Mike’s Hard Lemonade. The all-natural drink is made from red berries and real lemon juice. A new Breast Cancer Survivors’ ribbon was even co-designed with the CBCN and added to the label. Twenty-five per cent of all sales profits go to the CBCN.
