MTY Releases its 2022 Sustainability Report Update

MONTREAL — MTY Food Group Inc. has released its 2022 Sustainability Report Update. The report, based on the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board’s and Global Reporting Initiative’s reporting standards, summarizes the progress MTY has made in fiscal 2022 in its commitments outlined in the initial 2021 sustainability report published on Nov. 16, 2022.

Similar to the 2021 report, it covers material topics related to the company, including people and culture, governance; cybersecurity and data protection; food security and supply-chain management; food safety and product quality; and environmental impact.

A few highlights from the report include:

  • Purchased 34.4 million lbs of protein from vendors with animal-welfare policies;
  • Diverted more than 500,000 lbs of hard-to-recycle plastic containers, more than 18 million plastic utensils and 4.5 million plastic take-out bags from the Canadian landfill and replaced with 100 per cent recyclable, compostable or re-usable options;
  • Donated more than $1 million in sponsorships through local community fundraisers;
  • Contributed nearly $420,000 in continued education and training for employees.
