CHARLOTTETOWN — Murphy Hospitality Group is expanding its presence in Halifax with the opening of a new restaurant concept, Pickford & Black Fresh Seafood & Oyster Bar.
Pickford & Black will take over the space of the company’s Gahan House Harbourfront restaurant, which will close on March 18. The new concept is set to launch in April. As part of the project, the Gahan House location is relocating to the city’s newly constructed Nova Centre — a mixed-use development featuring a convention centre, boutique hotel, business towers, restaurants and shops — and is expected to open in May.
“We’ve always loved Halifax, from its people to its history, the company has always felt like we should be doing more in the city,” says Kevin Murphy, president, Murphy Hospitality Group. “Pickford & Black is a new brand for us; working with Revolve Branding & Marketing to create the restaurant’s look and feel has been a great experience. As well, moving the Gahan House into the Nova Centre is exciting; to be in a brand-new space, to have our brewpub up and running and to be showcasing local cuisine to conference goers and locals is thrilling.”
