MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Nando’s has decided to consolidate its Canadian business to lay a solid foundation for the future. This process will see Nando’s Canada move to permanently close 21 of its corporate owned-and-operated restaurants.

The company notes these locations had not been commercially viable for some time, and their losses were only exacerbated by the COVID-19 crisis.

Following the closures, the company will operate 27 locations in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario — including 13 corporate owned-and-operated and 14 franchised locations.

To minimize disruption, Nando’s is making every effort to shift employees to its remaining corporate locations. The company has carefully reviewed the separation packages that will be provided to affected employees to ensure that, not only are they compliant with all legal requirements, but that they are as generous as possible during this time.
