“Every day, as chefs, we are fortunate enough to be surrounded by food, and good food. We get the best of the best that’s available in this part of the world, and it’s easy to take that for granted. We need to remember there are people who simply don’t have enough to eat, and we are in a position to help,” says chef Jesse Vergen of the Saint John Ale House, one of eight chef’s who will showcase the “Gold Medal Plate” from his repertoire during the food-tasting fundraiser at The Fairmont Algonquin on March 19.
Other participants include executive chefs, Jason Gower of the Delta Fredericton, Stefan Mueller of the Delta Beauséjour, Markus Ritter of Europa Inn and Restaurant, Colin Sifton of the Hilton Saint John, Dave Irvin and Duncan Hutchisson of NBCC campuses in St. Andrews and Moncton, respectively and Jean-François Fortin of host hotel, The Fairmont Algonquin.
“We wanted to do something for our communities this year and recognized the needs of each of our local area food banks and the challenges they face. We are committed to donating 100 per cent of every dollar we raise for this cause to the people and organizations who are directly responsible for feeding hungry people”, adds Mueller.
