Winterlicious-2012

TORONTO — Winterlicious, Toronto’s annual mid-winter food festival, is offering two programs in 2012 — the Winterlicious Culinary Events Series and the Prix-Fixe Promotion — from Jan. 27 to Feb. 9.

“Winterlicious continues to successfully support Toronto’s restaurant industry and generate significant economic activity,” Rob Ford, Toronto’s Mayor, said of the annual celebration, which began 10 years ago.

The Culinary Events Series includes 11 ticketed culinary experiences featuring cuisine from Toronto’s finest restaurants and venues. The events will highlight flavours, ranging from Asia to Italy and include ingredients from chocolate to seafood. Tickets go on sale Dec. 15.

The Prix Fixe Promotion boasts 175 participating restaurants, making it the largest Winterlicious celebration in the festival’s history. Restaurants will start taking reservations for the prix-fixe promotion Jan. 12 (or Jan. 10 for American Express holders).

The Winterlicious and Summerlicious programs, produced by the City of Toronto, have served 3.2-million meals, generating more than $140 million in economic activity for the restaurant industry.
