New Horizons Pulse Days to Educate on Legumes

SASKATOON — The Saskatchewan Pulse Growers are presenting a “New Horizons” Pulse Days convention for professional legume growers, from Jan. 9 to 10.

Event highlights include presentations on new production practices in the pulse industry; a comprehensive lentil market outlook, moderated by Kevin Hursh, of Hursh Consulting and Communications; and trends in the global-pulse industry.

Pulses are the edible seeds of legumes and their use dates back more than 20,000 years. Canadian pulse crops include pea, bean, lentil, chickpea and faba bean. Saskatchewan seeds almost five-million acres of pulse crops each year. Pulses comprise a small, but very important part of the large legume family.
