New Restaurant Opening in Old Toronto Building

TORONTO — Toronto’s Dovercourt House is transforming into a new Peruvian restaurant called Waska Peruvian Chicken.

Chef Elias Salazar, the project lead, recently announced on Instagram that the restaurant will be opening on May 28 with a menu of Peruvian dishes including ceviche, empanada, and purple-corn chicha.

The opening comes a few months after news broke that Dovercourt House, the 108-year-old hub for the city’s dance community, would be closing its doors permanently.

The restaurant will offer patio space, an essential feature amid the pandemic, in addition to indoor seating that will become available once COVID-19 lockdown restrictions are lifted.

Waska Peruvian Chicken will also be available to order through food-delivery apps including Uber Eats, DoorDash, and SkipTheDishes.
