NiceRx Uncovers Global Nutritional Values of McDonald’s Meals

COULSDON, U.K. — Health experts at NiceRx have uncovered the nutritional values of McDonald’s meals in Canada and how it compares to other countries. The company compared three of the most popular items — the Big Mac, French Fries and Chicken McNuggets. For these items, they looked at calories, saturated fat and salt.

Canada ranked number 2 the Top-10 list of countries with the highest total calories for the three items, coming in at 962. Number-1 was Japan at 989 calories. Other high-ranking countries include South Korea (958 calories), Estonia (931 calories) and Lithuania (930 calories).

The research also revealed the following:

  • Israel has been named as the country with the lowest calorie count out of the meals reported. Total calories in the country are 729, which is 260 less than Japan;
  • South Korea’s Big Mac has the highest number of calories with 583 in total. The lowest calories Big Mac goes to Israel with just 396;
  • Japan has the most calorific fries, sitting at 410 for a medium-sized portion. The lowest is Mexico at 288 calories;

  • In Turkey, the menu items contain the most saturated fat (22.2 grams), with Israel being the lowest (5.02 grams);
  • Turkey has the highest salt content (4.50 grams) while Israel has the lowest (2.46 grams).
