Now Open: Beau Mont

MONTREAL — Chef Normand Laprise and Christine Lamarche — the team behind Toque! and Brasserie T! — have opened their newest venture in Montreal. Beau Mont will celebrate the culinary heritage of Quebec.

“We need to continue putting forward the work of our local producers. Supporting them is an essential value for me,” says Laprise. “Traceability is, therefore, the inevitable way to value their work.”

The 70-seat establishment — located near the Parc-Extension in downtown Montreal — is the second restaurant to join the Signé Toqué group this year, following the opening of a new Brasserie T! location earlier this year. Beau Mont will add a grocery-counter section in the fall, allowing customers to buy the high-quality local ingredients found in the restaurant. Beau Mont’s menu will continue to evolve over time and adapt to the seasons.

The project was developed in collaboration with creative agency Sid Lee and Sid Lee Architecture. Mementos collected from Laprise’s travels will complement the decor, some of which has been salvaged from previous Toque! locations. Photos displayed in the restaurant are signed by renowned photographer Dominique Malaterre.

“In imagining the Beau Mont, we opened up and learned about Normand Laprise as a person. The experience that’s now offered to customers is very personal and unpretentious,” says Jean Pelland, architect and senior partner at Sid Lee Architecture.
