OTTAWA — Chef Marc Lepine has launched a new six-seat dining room on the second floor of his Ottawa restaurant Atelier. The new concept, THRU, was several years in the making. Lepine originally hinted at plans for the project following Atelier’s fifth anniversary in 2013.
The dining room offers a blind tasting menu comprised of approximately 50 items — including beverages — according to the Ottawa Citizen. QR codes on each table add a layer of interactivity to the meal. Each code is labelled to correspond with a dish/item and, when scanned, reveals unique details about dishes or opens links.
In order to get a table at THRU, diners must purchase tickets online, which include service and fees for two people ($350) so no payment is necessary on site. Tickets for the restaurant’s June seatings are already sold out.
While the evenings when service is offered at THRU vary, when open, the dining room offers one service per night at 6:30.
