VANCOUVER — November is Ocean Wise month, so organizers are preparing to host the conservation program’s annual Chowder Chowdown Nov. 21, which will see 12 chefs in Toronto and Vancouver compete to create the best sustainable chowder.
Chefs Dana Hauser, Fairmont Waterfront Hotel; Tom Lee, Edible Canada at the Market; and Eric Pless, Coast Restaurant along with nine other chefs will compete at the event, which will be open to the public.
Each original chowder dish prepared by the chefs will be paired with a full-flavoured beer. A panel of judges will determine the winner, while guests will have the chance to vote on the People’s Choice Award.
The event will run in Vancouver and Toronto simultaneously, with the B.C. event at the Vancouver Aquarium ($50) and the Ontario event at the Fairmont Royal York ($45). Funds raised will support Ocean Wise conservation programs.
Ocean Wise is a Vancouver Aquarium conservation program.
