VANCOUVER – The lobby against farmed salmon in B.C. appears to have another environmental case to cite, as according to a CBC report, some 40,000 farmed Atlantic salmon escaped from a fish farm, some 400 km northwest of Vancouver. “This demonstrates once again the urgent need to transition all open net-cage farms to closed containment systems,” Will Soltau, local coordinator of the society’s salmon farm campaign, is quoted as saying.
