Ontario Winery Honoured in London

TORONTO — Ontario’s Jackson Triggs Okanagan Estate winery was recently awarded the distinction of Best Canadian Producer at the annual International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC) in London, England.

Jackson Triggs Winemakers Brooke Blair (who won the World’s Best trophy for her 2007 Proprietors Grand Reserve Merlot) and Derek Kontkanen (who won World’s Best product award for Best Dessert Wine for his 2007 Riesling Icewine) were on hand to accept the award, which was handed out by Prince Michael zu Salm-Salm, president, IWSC.

“Being awarded ‘sBest Canadian Producer’s at the IWSC is an honour and a testament to the great teamwork at Jackson Triggs. It’s the ultimate recognition,” said Kontkanen.

The Canadian winery earned 29 IWSC awards; this is the seventh time it’s earned the Best Canadian Producer title.
