OpenTable Releases 100 Most Romantic Restaurants List

TORONTO — With Valentine’s Day fast-approaching, OpenTable has released its 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in Canada for 2019 list.

The list features restaurants from 50 cities across nine provinces. Ontario topped the list with 39 establishments featured, followed by Alberta with 21, British Columbia with 14 and Quebec with 13. For the second year in a row, the Niagara Region rules in romance with 11 restaurants featured on the list.

“Romantic dining opportunities abound across the nation, with restaurants in communities big and small excelling at offering enchanting meals,” says Caroline Potter, Chief Dining Officer at OpenTable. “Diners can use OpenTable to find a romantic setting to create a memorable experience and spark that special connection on Valentine’s Day — or any day.”

This year, there are 29 new restaurants new to the list, including The Restaurant at Pearl Morrissette, which was named Canada’s Best New Restaurant in 2018 by enRoute magazine. Oz Kafe in Ottawa’s Byward Market, The Salmon House in downtown Vancouver and Sky Bistro in Banff, Alta. round out the list.

The following cities (in order) are Canada’s top romantic dining destinations, based on the number of restaurants that made OpenTable’s list:

  4. Banff, Alta.
  5. Montreal
  6. Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont.
  7. Ottawa
  8. Toronto
  9. Saskatoon
  10. Victoria
