TORONTO — OpenTable has revealed Canada’s 100 Most Romantic Restaurants for 2023 in time for Valentine’s Day. The list features spots that diners say deliver on romance, and was created by analyzing more than one million reviews by OpenTable diners.

According to the survey, diners’ biggest dating turnoffs include being rude to staff, frequent texting at the table, excessive drinking, talking about exes and chewing with an open mouth. Additionally, steakhouses (16 per cent), Italian (25 per cent) and contemporary Canadian cuisine (14 per cent) came out on top as Valentine’s Day favourites for OpenTable diners.

Some of the dining spots that stand out for exceptional service, romantic ambience and delicious fare include Osteria Salvio Volpe in Vancouver, Major Tom in Calgary and Drift in Halifax. Other restaurants on the list include Alvin’s Jazz Club in Calgary, Don Alfonso 1890 in Toronto, Helena in Montreal, Tea at the Empress in Victoria and Uccellino in Edmonton.

“Our survey revealed it’s as important to be your best self with your date as it is with the restaurant team taking care of you,” says Matt Davis, country director, OpenTable Canada. “We want to inspire Canadians to pack their charm along with their passion for romance and dining out this Valentine’s Day.”
