OTTAWA —The Craft Beer Market is poised to open a new location in Ottawa on May 11.
The 400-seat space will span 14,000 sq.-ft., with an additional 120 seats on its patio and will offer 132 beers on tap — 60 per cent of which will be from Ontario brewers. More than half of the brews will be craft-beers, while the remaining 40 per cent will be from Canadian, American and European brewers.
“It’s weird when people talk about us as if we’re a big company,” P.J. L’Heureux, founder and president of Craft, told the Ottawa Sun. “We’re actually small. Our headquarters are in Alberta [and] I’m one of the owners.”
Although craft-beers account for less than five per cent of overall beer sales in the province, customers are filing into Craft’s Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver locations, which offer $5 pints from local brewers.
