Ottawa Food Vendors Concerned About Program Rules

OTTAWA — Last summer, Ottawa welcomed 17 new street-food vendors to town, but this year some vendors are worried about remaining relegated to operate in one specific spot from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily, reports CBC News.

The vendors have been assigned certain spots to ensure they are not too close to another establishment that sells food. But, some are worried it doesn’t make sense.

Meanwhile, the operators have created the Capital Street Food Association to create one clear voice. The association is expected to lobby for the chance to give food-truck operators more options to move their trucks this summer. According to Coun. Mark Taylor, the city is willing meet with the association to discuss the situation. [cbc.ca/news]
