Panera Bread Announces Integration With Apple Pay in U.S.

ST.LOUIS, Mo. — Panera Bread will soon be accepting Apple Pay, available through iPhone 6, 6 Plus and Apple Watch, in the U.S.

“We’re proud to be one of the first retailers to accept Apple Pay using iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch,” said Blaine Hurst, chief technology and transformation officer, Panera. “For us, it’s a natural extension of Panera 2.0, which brings together digital ordering, multiple payment options and improved operational processes to deliver an enhanced guest experience.”

To make payments at participating Panera Bread bakery-cafés, guests must hold their iPhones near the check-out terminals while keeping a finger on the Touch ID pad on their phones. Apple Pay simplifies the check-out process for cashiers, while providing a quick and secure payment method for its users.

Apple Pay will be accepted at participating U.S. locations at the St. Louis, Mo.-based Panera once the system rolls out this fall.
