MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Paramount Fine Foods will celebrate World Food Day by hosting an awareness event and fundraiser at its Crestlawn location in Mississauga, Ont.

World Food Day — celebrated annually on October 16 since 1981 — was created to bring awareness to world hunger and poverty while inspiring people to make a change. This year, World Food Day aims to raise US$3 million, which translates to one-million meals served world-wide.

“Participating in World Food Day was an easy choice for me,” says Mohamed Fakih, founder and owner of Paramount Fine Foods. “No matter your race, age, religion or gender, everyone should have access to nutritional food. In Canada, we’re lucky to have the resources to help others less fortunate and I’m proud that Paramount Fine Foods is participating in World Food Day.”

Working with World Central Kitchen, Paramount Fine Foods will be part of World Food Day’s restaurant takeover (happening in nine major cities across the globe). Each restaurant is committed to raising a minimum of $5,000 for the effort. The Paramount event will take place from 6:30 pm to 10 p.m. and will feature a three-course meal and entertainment. Tickets are available at eventbrite.ca.
