Pinnacle Awards Attract Industry Heavyweights

TORONTO — Close to 550 industry executives gathered last week, Dec. 2, at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto to celebrate excellence at the 23rd Annual Pinnacle Awards.

The awards luncheon was organized by Kostuch Media, hosted by CBC’s Wendy Mesley, and sponsored by AVW Telav and Cara Operations. It featured a champagne reception, sponsored by Saputo, and Kostuch presented 11 awards — six for Foodservice and Hospitality and five for Hotelier.

Among the F&H winners were Extreme Brandz as National Company of the Year; Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) as Regional Company of the Year; Paul Rogalski and Olivier Reynaud of Rouge Restaurant in Calgary, as Independent Restaurateurs; Robert Clark, C Restaurant as Chef of the Year and Rational Canada as Supplier of the Year. Vancouver-based White Spot won in the category of Franchise Excellence. On the hotel front, Hotelier magazine presented awards to IHG as National Company of the Year; Groupe Germain as Regional Company of the Year; Paul Verciglio as Hotelier of the Year, Eastern Canada; and brothers Andre and George Schwarz as Hoteliers of the Year for Western Canada. PKF Consulting won in the category of Supplier of the Year.

“This year’s group of winners reflects a strong line-up of industry leaders who refuse to rest on their laurels,” said Rosanna Caira, editor and publisher of Kostuch Media. “Despite the challenges of the past few years, these individuals and companies continue to lead industry innovation, reflecting their strong business acumen and sense of community.”
